Thundery end to week?
Looks like the end of the week could be thundery for parts of NZ, from inland Otago to Northland.

Today..
Some thundery showers developing morning for Taranaki. Moving east-northeastwards with hail likely for the Plateau, possibly Taranaki.
Freezing levels: 1800-2200m
Tropopause height: about 8km, lowering.
Lowest 500mb temp will be -24c, becoming unstable especially around Rotorua with LI's down to -2 and CAPE of 300j/kg.
Looking quite cloudy so hopefully some lift somewhere.
Cb's off Westport just starting to fulfill now.
Cb tops should be low so if thunderstorms don't develop, atleast hail and heavy showers across the greater regions will
Fresh gusty southwest winds for Auckland, lighter westerlies elsewhere, clearing late light south to southeasterly.

Cumulonimbus heaven today that's for sure!
So fine weather tomorrow, few showers developing on Wednesday, rain developing on Thursday with thunderstorms likely from about Hamilton southwards at this stage. Auckland may escape most of the rain.. heaviest rain should fall from Taranaki to Tongariro NP.
Warm and muggy on Friday, and may lead to scattered thunderstorms over the North Island and inland-upper South Island
Becoming fine and warm again by Saturday?
Quite a bit of variation in the models so let's see!

Can't see much at all really.. dry then some late light rain with a light southwesterly change from easterly.Jasestrm wrote:Foggy you got any models for Wednesday what it looks like over canty as SW change goes through?
Also although looking at the winds they could be quite light and the change might be rather latish in the evening but who knows.
Cheers
JASON.
Models will change so who knows?
Cheers
