Re: General November Weather
My station has 28.7C right now outside, official airport station on 26.1C, some stations around the city have up to 30C it seems, so is quite a bit of localised differences in temperature right now.

Re: General November Weather
Cold change came through at 6pm today, short 10-15 minutes of light drizzle with it, did not amount to enough for my station to record any rain, 10 degree temperature drop occurred as it came through (26C -> 16C)

Re: General November Weather
Few brief showers out on Banks Peninsula this evening with a strong SW wind shift.
Interestingly enough GFS wanted nothing to do with any moisture today on the plains, but ECMWF had a hint of some light Precipitation which it did.
The same goes for the low system this coming show weekend, ECMWF showing some decent rainfall for the plains yet GFS not so much.
Will come into line as the week progresses no doubt, has been the theme all year with the models.
Still waiting eagerly for a decent storm day in the Waitaha region, but I'm sure it will kick off soon enough as we enter the peak time.
Still personally yet quietly confident of a changeable summer ahead.

Back home from the Waikato area late yesterday to a rather warm day here today maximizing out at 28.1C before the much cooler southerly wind went through just before 4pm with the associated temperature drop. Clouding up with a few spits of rain with the cooler wind.
Wind dying out this evening and reverting back to a light NE.

Re: General November Weather
Some welcome patchy light to moderate rain this morning, will be more rainfall over the coming days.
Perhaps a low risk for an isolated thunderstorm through South Canterbury tomorrow afternoon, with heavy showers and small hail possible.
Saturday probably presents a simular risk across most of the region, with -30C upper air crossing and time of year.
But will mostly be heavy showers and hail than thunderstorms.

The rain here today will be great for the garden after a dry start to the month and rest of the month looks like it could end up dry with an anticyclonic look to November. Currently 18C,dewpoint 17C, moderate rain.

Re: General November Weather
Not too much to report from here, has been dry all day and still is surprisingly.
Although those heavy showers should move north overnight and into tomorrow morning.
Heavy showers and hail maybe a clap of thunder thrown in there given time of year as that cold upper air passes over.
Today never stuck out for me, no real great instability numbers etc.
NSW and QLD continue to get days of severe storms, feels like they are pinching all the unstable energy

Yes, SE Queensland and NE NSW is the place to go for thunderstorms, they get some nice supercells and great lightning shows. I think New Zealand is getting less stormy.Storm Struck wrote: ↑Fri 15/11/2024 20:28
