StrikeStar Lightning Network

Unread post by Skywatcher »

StrikeStar is a client-server system which allows multiple Boltek detectors running Nexstorm to form a lightning location network.

Thanks to the efforts of John, the owner of the Miramar stormtracker, the three NZ detectors have been added to the Australian StrikeStar server.

You can see the results here - the maps are updated every five minutes.

It would be good to get a sTormTracker in Dunedin, then we should get the whole country covered :)

The word here in my first post is a clickable link to http://www.sphere.net.au/strikestarau/ ;)

A few more stations would help - somewhere further west on the South Island e.g. Te Anau and east on the North like Gisborne would be better for triangulation.

We're lucky that Sphere Innovative Technologies in Australia are letting us use their server with the help of Relko of Astrogenics who developed Nexstorm and the StrikeStar system.
