Back from overnight trip to coast (Greymouth) - there via Arthur's Pass and back via the Lewis. Fine throughout, apart from scattered cloud, though cool. (only high teens on coast) I did notice scattered towering Cu over Canterbury yesterday morning; not suprised some showers developed later in the day in Chch.
I also noticed some fresh light snow above about 1500m on shaded slopes of some peaks down from Otira yesterday afternoon. Apparently Westland has been pretty wet lately (including Wednesday), so I've been told by the people I stayed with last night - certainly it's pretty green over there.
