Action going on over here with the southerlies and disturbed southerlies on our side of the high. :|

Hopefully it won't be too wet and stormy in the Brisbane area during the 1st week of April, when I'll be there.

which low are you talking about Matt?
the one off brisbane is not going to form a TC, as there would be too much windsheer i would think
but its still has been an impressive tropical low
there is scattered CB's in the coral sea that look potential to come together and start to form a tropical low...that would the area to watch

what is the water temperature off brisbane?

i am hoping we will get some decent rain from the low off brisbane here when it finally gets a chance to move SE
need rain badly here

nice photos on your weather forum there 8)

It between 26 to 27C water temperature, and it have some chances to form into a tropical cyclone as the coral sea is covering full of clouds. (I hope it Day After Tomorrow LOL)

The air pressure is now 996hpa and 4hpa to go for category one cyclone!

that puts the water temperature right at the bottom end of the range....
to be a TC it would need to have gales right around the low...i.e convective clouds right around it

its been slowly deepening as a tropical low with out being a pre tropical cyclone low...
i.e 2 different beasts i would think

if you know what i mean...yes?

also alot of wind to its south was because of the intense high that was over NSW,but that is now weakening...and so the wind gradient to its south will ease somewhat

also its expected to move SE tomorrow towards the NI of NZ 8)

UMMMMM Mate it not going to NZL, it sed:
Synoptic Situation: At 8.30 am, an intense low pressure system with central
pressure 995 hPa has continued to move west and was located about 70 kilometres
east of Cape Moreton. Gale to storm force winds are occurring around the low.

Damaging wind gusts to 115 km/hr are possible about Brisbane and the Gold Coast
if the low comes any closer. Large waves on the exposed coast south from Fraser
Island will raise high tide levels above the highest tide of the year. Coastal
bars will be particularly dangerous. This low may reach cyclone force one as it have 30% chances, dangerous winds and surf are continuing in NE NSW area. Gale to Storm forces wind still comfirming.
