Warm (but light) northwesterly Friday in Christchurch

Unread post by tich »

It's been cloudy (northwest arch high cloud) most of the day, but warm - 27C max at Airport. Usually in a light northwesterly flow, there's a northeasterly breeze in Chch, but not today. According to Jeff's online station, ithe wind's been northwesterly today. I'm usually only aware that the wind is northwesterly here when it's strong and gusty.

A southerly came through overnight and has persisted today in Chch - temperatures being at least 10C cooler than yesterday. There was some drizzle earlier in the morning and overnight, but the sun has broken through the cloud this afternoon, with patches of blue.

Yes Deano, weather is boring. Upper air over NZ is very stable today.
Quite a chilly surface southerly has sneaked onto the South island today.

A weak front over the North island is keeping skies cloudy here with drizzle threatening but still quite mild on 20C.

Weather is likely to be less stable from about mid week with isolated afternoon thunderstorms possible over NZ.

Overcast and dull again in Chch - the sun came out through breaks in the cloud only for about an hour or so earlier in the afternoon.

Blimmin' cold easterly wind blowing in Christchurch today despite the 8/8 bluedome sky cover.
Is this how summer is going to be with useless cold fronts coming through either overnight or in the morning. !!! :(

Easterly wind all day in Ashburton, but not cold.Quite a nice day to sit out in the sun.Temperature may have reached over 20 degrees out of the breeze.Would have been alot warmer over the Mackenzie Basin and Central Otago.
Cheers.
