After leaving NZ on Friday (going to Auckland early because of the weather uncertainty - maybe transport issues later in the week :?) flying to Santiago, couple of days' stopover en route to Brazil (where it will be much warmer of course). Shouldn't be too bad there though it has a reputation for smog in winter conditions:

With its enormous length and altitude variations Chile has a fair range of temps and rainfall in any season:

Thanks janewaystv, will take care out there - and it helps that my partner is super-organised ;) :D

{and as a PS - for some more exciting or unusual months weatherwise in the older decades of the "passing parade" - April 1956, February 1958, May 1958 (maybe W'gton's windiest ever), June 1958, September 1958....but more of that anon :) }
