A rather cooler day today after three days in a row of 20C+ although much enjoyed.
Looks like the thunderheads will be out west tomorrow but another warm to strong gusty NWer followed by perhaps some spots of rain in the evening.
I am keeping an eye on this week coming although as models can be up and down all the time i will have to wait and see.
Cheers
Jason.

Early 20's yesterday and today only dropped to about 13-14C overnight and a strong NWer knocking on the door at 2am this morning, some good gusts inland from what ive heard few branches down etc.
Unfortunatly your right John let the sloth ball of boring weather roll on , we are heading towards some bad weather perhaps in June or July.
After the weather we have been having latly its got to be a build up to something surly , and yet there is hope at every turn .
Cheers
Jason.

Looks more like some rain is on the way... Anticyclone is cancelled...
HEAVY RAIN ON WEDNESDAY ON THE WEST COAST OF THE SOUTH ISLAND, RANGES
OF NELSON,MARLBOROUGH SOUNDS, TARARUA RANGES AND TARANAKI INLAND
TOWARDS THE CENTRAL NORTH ISLAND PLATEAU
MetService expects a low to deepen in the Tasman Sea today and an
active front to bring rain and strong northerlies to most places from
Tuesday night. The front is followed by a disturbed westerly flow
with bands of heavy showers or squally thunderstorms.
90 to 150mm of rain is expected between Doubtful Sound and Lewis Pass,
also in the ranges of Buller and Nelson, including the Richmond range
and the Marlborough Sounds with the heaviest falls near the ranges of
southern Westland.
There will probably be 60 to 100mm in the Tararua Ranges and in the
hilly country from Mt Taranaki extending inland towards the central
North Island plateau.
People in these areas are warned that streams and rivers are likely
to rise quickly.

The term bad weather is referred as something better than what we have at the moment Rwood although i am enjoying the unusually warm days.
Sceintists from NIWA etc predicting a dry winter ahead for farmers you have to feel for them really. What is to say that this theory will happen, no other predictions have gone through properly that ive seen in awhile from them.
Anyway great day for thunder out west tomorrow maybe even the odd funnel .
Cheers
Jason.

It's May. We always want Winter to arrive but the fact is it's just too warm at this time of year for regular snow events. Lets wait for July to September, a much better time for the white stuff.
A watched pot ( insert "sky") never boils ( insert "dumps a sh*t load of snow")

There is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes.

I was referring to the spelling of "surely" JasonJasestrm wrote:The term bad weather is referred as something better than what we have at the moment Rwood although i am enjoying the unusually warm days.

Given the broad nature of the NIWA predictions I can't recall a recent rainfall prediction that was badly off. Last winter's temp. picks were well off the mark. It will get pretty serious in Hawkes Bay if they don't pick up a good easterly "wet" reasonably soon.

Was there any thunderstorms around the North Island today in accordance with the MetService forecasts? Karen didn't mention much about such on the weather on the telly tonight.
MetService lightning detector had most of the activity south of about Greymouth on the West Coast.
SG dectector didn't show up much lightning activity.
Ive been looking westwards from here hoping for a 'flash' but nothing.
Even the AM radio sfericals is quiet

Perhaps two CB's here John on the sattelite for 7pm, kinda look like specticles rather strange high cloud band offshore south of BP too .

Was surprised we got hardly any rain here this morning not even 1mm, so the soils continue to slowly dry up.
Still the warm temps keep on coming each day and another one for tomorrow .
Cheers

Still pretty misty and drizzly here in Tokoroa but we are at 330m elevation and have forest moisture all around, sort of micro climate of our own... oh and the Waikato is 10kms away...kiwisk8er wrote:Yeah I know, I'm just sick of the boring weather thats all. I'm glad its stopped drizzling though.
It sorta clears up during the day, but there is no wind either so it hangs...
<Video camera only has a small centre focal area and it struggles in low light or fog as it hunts in and out to find focus >
I rode the racing bike 10kms to work again today, some of it is on the main highway, scary shifting from left shoulder to right turning lane... even with lights flashing front and rear... at least I can see cars following because they have to use the headlights
