Re: Low early week
I see CHCH today has STRUGGLED to make it to 6C (well, according to Jeff's website, anyway...).
I also note for the weekend the M/S are very cautious and vague (fair enough, though, really):
"By the end of Saturday the low should lie east of the North Island with a strong cold southerly flow over New Zealand. On Sunday the flow should turn southwest and ease."

Well, I agree. They're only the national forecasting service with some of the most brilliant minds in the country and get millions of tax dollars in funding...gllitz wrote:I see CHCH today has STRUGGLED to make it to 6C (well, according to Jeff's website, anyway...).

Re: Low early week
Some land based cb's have popped up over Northland/Auckland this afternoon. Interesting to see them in July! Temperature got to 17.3C at Ricky's Grey Lynn weather site.

Re: Low early week
[NOTE - Please check the last two posts...] HAHA! As I was leaving work at 5pm, I saw some interesting formations too to the Sou-West of Kinleith. Several other pics in the interesting late afternoon sunset light. May be a frost tonight but definitely down to 4ºC or lower Woooheee the symbol still works!!

Re: Low early week
Not to bad here overnight, another 26mm fell. The intensity in such a short space of time caught many off guard. Maybe more run off than usual was a contributing factor.

Re: Low early week
From offhand recollection only, this July is looking more like those of 1955 or 1963 than the fairly benign ones I used a while back.
