lunarhalo.jpg
A rather rare phenomenon out there at present, a full circle 22deg lunar halo - very faint, but nonetheless a full circle bright band around the moon. Much more exciting to a meteorologist than a lunar eclipse ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Fairly common in Canterbury due to our high incidence of cirrus type clouds, but the night ones seem much rarer.NZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote:Yes Tony, there was a halo around the sun today as well![]()

Where's your sentimentality?? it was a lovely afternoon on Sunday and the afternoon moon glowed through the clouds with a very strong halo later that evening!! hmmm, low winds, mild temps, signs of spring, glass of wine and a good friend...David wrote:sounds nice... but I'd rather have the rain
