Very hot and humid at the mo with some weakish looking T/Cu around with the odd anorexic turkey tower as well.

Something very nice towards the SE, looks to be over Thames way has grown rapidly in the last half hour.

Also some nice dark bases towards the NW

Very summery indeed

5pm radar shows some nice Cb's have developed in a line extending from North of Hamilton right up to Dargaville way. No strikes at this stage tho, maybe the convection has been too shallow today??

I think something is wrong with that radar, the scrappy precipitation shown is close to here and the only visible clouds that look to have rain in them are a fair distance away. And these areas have been almost stationary most of the time. :?

If you see the 3pm and noon radars on metvuw they are labelled 'no data available at his time'.

Can see distant cumulonimbus to the north though.

One or two higher tops there but the CAPE is very low. No showers in the Auckland area though, all distant.

Michael just posted in the auckland weather blogs that it rained there today, but no sign of any even close to here.
I also see the Runciman weather station in S Akl reported a shower giving 4mm in about 20-30mins.

Yes, some showers over South Auckland this afternnon esp around the Bombay Hills, better heating down there and maybe some convergence.
