hmm interesting to have a quick read over those comments from yesterday and today on this thread, seems as though was some nice thunderstorms out there this arfternoon, but didn't get anything. Apparently thunder heard over lyttleton way according to mr Andrew massie But did indeed see those nice cb clouds going up the east coast, port hills way

Interesting to see the waterspout report.
I have to be honest and say i'm not violently opposed to 'mini tornado' although its not part of the Meteorological language. So long as the word tornado is included in the name I have no problem, although mini tornado shouldn't be used for waterspout.
BTW interesting to see the temp in Canterbury got to 23C which reinforced the convection.

Very light rain starting here now hopefully it will be enough by the morning .
Just a few pics from today, the CB early afternoon was possibly the one which produced the Waterspout.
Not sure of the chances for Thursday afternoon/evening .
Cheers
Jason.

Re: Canterbury Tstorm Forecast for 13th & 15th Nov
Interesting day today. Had planned to do abit of chasing, but had car troubles so had to leave my car off the side of the road!! (Its alright now though picked it up tonight) So lacking a car I had to wach everything unfold from the races, I swear every year skirts get shorter!!!
Dont sure what was missing, everything kind of planned out how I thought after looking at the models this morning, maybe what happened was all that was ment to happen with the conditions.

Im pretty happy with my forecast, and I would think metservice and blueskies would also be. Just not quite the type of Tstorms I thought would happen.

A bit of sound and fury overhead now here, so often seems to only happen in darkness.
