bit of a easterly surge coming across the area with a few weak light showers...
Dewpoints now up to 16C, should be afternoon showers tomorrow with the day time heating( if current high cloud clears out)

Yes, looks to be a good chance of a few heavy showers developing tomorrow, possibly isolated thunderstorms Waikato northwards.

A heavy downpour just crossed Greenlane heading towards the CBD. Metservice also has upgraded the area to severe thunderstorms, still moderate risk tho.

That looks like the best Cb of the day so far.

Photo below, some narrow shower lines over the Auckland area from mid afternoon.

Your second photo there is very interesting spwill, the way you can see where and where it isn't raining. Nothing interesting really today here, a brief 0.4mm shower around 3.40pm but that was it, sadly. Was surprised it got to 25.0C today.

Just to add for other's interest, I've just come across a Kerikeri weather station, which should be of interest when we have E/NE/N rain systems. Already 400mm this year!

The mid afternoon cloud and showers killed off the local convection.

Isolated TStorm over Waikato, North Auckland and one or two over the far North and down south inland Taranaki way

While I was busy with the evening soccer, we had one heavy downpour at 5:50pm and then thunder and lightning from towards Rotorua and distinct shower grey areas and black bottoms ;) Hmm, I had my camera in the car but was too busy with managing things... :(

I was surprised at how quickly the clouds thickened up and even light drizzle early with sun through a thin layer... the pic below shows the red temp line hitting 24.6ºC at 17:17, sprinkle then, heavy shower at cooler plateau for 5 mins, and then finishing the lower plateau of 20.8 at 18:20. DP peaked at just 14.8 at the temp spike and dropped to 13.8 by 18:20. rH went from 68% to 64% at the flat point so the rain came from way higher than the lower clouds!!

Definitely autuminal now after the cold weather surge on Tuesday with the minimum, this morning, getting down to 1ºc.
Should be cooler now with high pressures lingering to the W/Sw of us from now and for much of next week.

Yeah there is a particularly autuminal smell in the air. The house cat has been acting weirdly all day, wandering around aimlessly, gently howling.

By the looks this autumn is more like spring than Autumn 2007,SW are becoming dominant now and the hideous maps GFS and Ecmwf are modelling all next week.

Well its a bloody cold SE (Av 18.5, gust 33km/hr) here today, alow of 4.4ºC overnight with a strong breeze all night. Extra blankets and duvet on last night, fires (2) lit this morning!!

WINTER has arrived - frosts down south, sleet and hail and some snow - end of this topic then ...

I think a low of 7 degrees is way over what it will go down to tonight out here...temperature is really plummeting, about 3 degrees lower now than it was an hour ago - already down to 9 degrees and its only just after 7pm

Fortunately and hopefully the SW will be gone in time for Anzac WE with light winds and then NE followed by WNW after that.

It will be really autuminal by then, with leaves turned and falling onto the ground.
Might be more troughy as well and no more anticyclones, I hope :|
