There have been several days with totals over 50mm in the past 9 years of records, 12th May 2006 I recorded 74.6mm which I think is still my record daily rainfall.Inny Binny wrote:Jeff's station broken 50mm. That the first time?

Re: Cold snap for Eastern South Island
Got some pics from yesterday and today...one of the initial southerly coming through yesterday around noon.
Another is of a local park....with some slight drainage issues when it rains (yes, that is a basketball court you can see in the distance)...
and finally one of the white stuff falling from the stuff accumulating on the patio table...I tell you what...sure did feel a LOT colder than the 7C indicated by the local weather station...the wind was BITTER!!!
Cheers,
Glenn

Interesting question. Comparing the days, its close-ish, most of the rain today and on the 12th May 2006 has fallen between 1:50am and 2:50pm.
Totals between these times for the 12 May 2006, 66.2mm and today 50.6mm

Re: Cold snap for Eastern South Island
Fewer showers since about midafternoon in central Chch and the wind has eased, but it's still bitterly cold. Snow is still lying on the Port Hills, and snowline hasn't receded (about 300m) - probably more snow fell today up there.

Looks like snow fell lower on Bp, than the foot hills.

Re: Cold snap for Eastern South Island
I doubt it will get much lower than that. I imagine relative humidity is quite high.Ryan Thomas wrote:3.8 in Christchurch now(Jeffs).. Wonder how cold it will get tonight?
