Sure is some beaut gale force gusts at times, no damage around here though apart from the local siren going off a few times not sure what that was due to.
Interesting once those clouds hit land they develope in precipitation as they have been doing since 4pm, ive seen it before this year and it all goes around BP.
Still some heavy rain sleet showers wafting on through just about snow at times.
Few pics from today when the snow got heavy at about 4pm, the flakes were really big and it started to settle quickly before soon easing up.
Cheers
Jason.

also thought that Auckland's freezing level today was 1000m high thats pretty cold for them even that high.
gives you an idea of how colder we are in Christchurch, then Auckland wed be 1000m high lol but in terms colder in latitude not altitude, snow level**

Well anyway, this is the first time I can remember that we have had 2 settling snows in a year, and it's only early July! :D

Suns out in Christchurch today, but that wind sure has a bite to it, wont go any higher then 7C like MS is saying i don't think
Still a little bit of snow on port hills this morning but think alot of it was washed away with that rain we had last night.

cheers

Went to the cashmere club last night from my friends sisters 21st.. Road was closed from the driveway by the river onwards because the river was too high / surface flooding. I missed out on seeing / hearing the power of those big gusts!

Just watching the sat loops and noticing this wee trough coming up from the south...models don't say it will be much, though...looks to have a bit of "nip" to it...should notice any effects from it by tomorrow morning. :-k :-k

Looks as though it has gone out to sea. Should be colder tomorrow with ugly, wintery cloud.

Was the wind chill on Saturday the coldest Christchurch has ever had?

Had some heavy showers overnight and another shower about noon (with brief hail) near Akaroa. Looks to have been fresh snow above about 500-600m, but hard to tell as there's quite alot left at that altitude from Saturday's storm.

I was at the bottom of Mt Hutt this morning working and it was pounding down with snow. Had to pack up all the scaffold and load it up while it was snowing. Lucky the boss let me go home and have a shower and change my clothes before our next job haha.
