I've a friend emigrating here from the UK who arrives on Monday the 8th and it would be nice to impress him a week in advance of what weather he can expect in Christchurch - or is it spelt chrisctchurch these days
I'm hoping that the southerly change rolling up the east coast on Thurs/Fri will be weak and leave us dry over the weekend and into the start of next week. Here's hoping...

Not looking too good at the moment with another depression moving over us, however it may be quicker moving than recent events and it won't be as bad.

Don't worry, if he's coming from the UK there is nothing Christchurch can throw at him that won't see him outside in shorts and t-shirt raving about how warm it is.

Opps - is that similar to last week or what... although it looks like it is not blocked as badly to the East.
Looks like my mate is going to get a continuation of his UK summer

Yes. I saw some lambs gambolling in the fields today.
...not gambling, although if they play their cards right

ECMWF shows a bit of a trough moving onto NZ, hemmed in 'twixt anticyclones, early next week ...
... but will have to wait and see

This morning it still looks wet for next Monday but not a drenching so my mate will feel at home straight away
In fact from the M/S 7 day rain pages he will probably land in the dry and then get dampened. Its not going to help my fence construction over the w/e though
I'll call him tomorrow with the good news before his phone line is disconnected...
