Re: warm week to end 2008
Perfect weather, could hit around 33 in places like rolleston today.
Yesterday was also a stunner in christchurch, but felt hotter than what was recorded.

32.1 Summer has arrived! Actually doesn't feel that warm tho, perhaps I don't feel the heat as much anymore, or perhaps its because I'm not moving... Biking to work after 2 o clock will be fun..

Re: warm week to end 2008
I think it was Dunedin Aero that recorded 30.3°C yesterday and 30.6°C the day before. Musselburgh was a little cooler with 25.9°C and 27.3°C respectively. Guess it makes a pleasant change from a high of 10.1°C on the 20th though.Janos wrote:Same for the South, Dunedins had a couple of boomer days. 30deg recorded for the last two.

Re: warm week to end 2008
Yes got to 32.2 degrees today. Been in Kaiteriteri since boxing day just arrived back. Everyday was hot with no wind at all. Whole way home blue skies and no cloud. I hope the weather for Saturday improves due to the one day game being here. Looks like very warm weather for wed, thurs and fri so hopefully sat is ok, it does only seem brief!

Re: warm week to end 2008
Just touched 30C today out here in West Melton.
A cooler southerly went through around 1:30pm but that didn't hinder the temperature much, only dropping slowly and increasing a little when the sun came out of the high cloud that was forming to the west.
However it was down to 17C at 10pm.

here are some photos of the storms yesterday here in the bay, not very exciting just a few rumbles of thunder as they moved south.

Re: warm week to end 2008
Warm day in central Chch, but went out to New Brighton early afternoon and it was quite abit cooler out there, with a northeasterly sea-breeze. Seems like the cooling effect was confined to the coast, literally. Hopefully it stays warm in central city tonight,

Re: warm week to end 2008
Just exceeded 30deg today by a few tenths, compared with yesterday which was a few tenths off 30. Looks like similar temps in the next few days as well. NW all day, but winds strong to near gale for about half an hour late afternoon.

Re: warm week to end 2008
Yes, Just over 27 degrees here with a freshening Northwester, if it was more NNW than WNW then temperatures would be well over 30 with the heat in that sun today. Still very warm and 21% humidity here as well so much the same! Tomorrow see Blue SKies forecasting 30 degrees and metservice 28. The cricket pitch at AMI will have plenty of sun in preperation for the match on saturday so should be a belter!! Unfortunately not the best weather forecast for Saturday but its looking a lot more promising than a couple of days ago. Just some morning showers clearing but only 17 degrees the high forecast!!! Why is it when national TV is going to be focused on the city that out weather is going to be chilly and not the best. I wish the game was tomorrow. The commentators better point out that its been around 30 degrees for 4 days straight (including the forecast tomorrow). Bet they wont though. I see that next week is looking very warm again! Man you have to love summer!!!

Nothing too serious. Perhaps a moderator could branch the posts off to a new Topic saying "A warm start to 2009"?MarkThomas wrote:Yes
