Re: Extreme Temperatures early February
Really am missing the heat here now. I would take 34 degrees over 15-18degree days anyday. Doesnt look like any real warm weather for the next 10 days or so or nearby future. Maybe summer is on the way out now?

Yes, sadly as Jim Hickey would say, "It looks as though Summer is now a 'Gone-burger' "

Hopefully ...
Having the heater back on again in the 1st half of February is NOT exactly what I expected ...

Chch does well out of the big westerly patterns which tend to be a feature of spring /early summer, the westerlies usually get lazy now.Really am missing the heat here now. Re: Extreme Temperatures early February
Its amazing how I had overnight low last week of 22.5°C and last night getting 8.9°C. What a contrast.

Re: Extreme Temperatures early February
Yes looking very cool in the south a the next couple of days. Staying very moist in the far north and GFS still indicates some warm frontal rain for Auckland tomorrow night.

Re: Extreme Temperatures early February
Just come back from wanaka, had some very nice weather effects from the heatwave .
Not too hot but still could feel the strength in the sun sometimes, around 30C last Sunday before the bushfire haze crept over.
It was really weird very bright orangy yellow sky much different to a NW arch, certainly made people look up.
Must have had a near record low in Wanaka on Friday morning, around 2C atleast when i got up at 6am for a johhny ice on the car roofs.
Although the day did follow 24C which wasnt too bad in the end, and yesterday was magical on 26C with blue dome skies flat lake waters great for kayaking.
I might put some photo's in the off topic if your lucky .
Cheers
Jason.

Re: Extreme Temperatures early February
Down to 18C here, Auckland nights are warm at this time of year, the average min above 16C. Our forecast high of 22C looks low given we should have sunny spells today.

Cold morning here. Condensation on my breath as I was getting the truck out of the garage this morning.
