No one can answer that. Just go later in the season rather than earlier and your chances are better!SnoBound wrote:Wheres the best snow gonna be at this season? I need to plan my trip now while i still have a job and sum $$$ left!

Last year "Rupe" (...dear God...) had a good season because the North Island was so unbelievably wet. I'd say that's unlikely to happen again (at least to that extent).
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think most climate models are predicting close to neutral ENSO conditions for this winter, which essentially means a close to "normal" winter....in theory.

Colder than normal, stormier than normal implies snowier than normal pretty much everywhere.

um, no honestly, we cant tell you. we can only tell you what the trends are, and extrapolate a general picture of the climate based on that. we cant tell you if theres going to be snow or not.

Re: Hey weather dudes!
Mt Ruapehu might erupt this year, hindering all snowfalling on the mountain due to heat from the larva flow, which could melt the snow. So because of this, there is a risk of snowmelt hindering the winter ski season there.
Other North Island ski fields do look very favourable, sorry favorable.
On the otherhand, Mt Hutt is not a volcano, so chances that any snow that may fall, the chances of snow not being melted, look fairly good. So there should be a good season there
Other South Island ski fields are not built on volcanos, so there chance of a good ski season look promising.
