Augie Auer - 10 June 1940 – 10 June 2007 - Rememberance

Unread post by DT-NZ »

I remember when Augie first appeared on our TV screen's to present the weather - Augie became an important part of our family's and daily lives - we always looked forward each evening to watching the weather forecasts

Suddenly weather became fun and an exciting thing, Augie helped us learn so much about weather and was able to relate weather in easy ways - minus technical jargon

I could not let this month end without remembering Augie and to say thank you, he is missed, my respect to his family always.

Augie Auer passed away two years on June 10th 2007.

Augie Auer was Chief Meteorologist for the Meteorological Service of New Zealand Limited from 1990 to 1998.

I take my hat off to the man.
I used to like the way he used to have trouble getting his accent around Maori place names, especially Kawerau, when it was commom to have the nations high :>
...also he used to call Greymouth ... 'Grimmith'

Chief Meteorologist, Professor of Atmospheric Physics. We'll never again have someone like that presenting the weather forecast on TV.
