Re: General September Weather
The weak trough coming onto Northland currently doesn't look much on satellite but there is some moisture wrapped up in it so there is some convective potential with it. I wouldn't rule out a cb/thunderstorm developing overnight tonight as the system moves across Auckland.
Cold advection over the lower South Island tomorrow looks interesting.

Re: General September Weather
Going through some models it looks like a good set up for thunderstorms tomorrow, winds are generally light and coastal NE winds should get up before the southerly change.
It doesnt look like much of a westerly could kill any convection off, and if we get rain overnight tonight then that will add to daytime heating tomorrow also.
Much better further south but it certainly should be an interesting day with scatterd CB's for much of the South Island.
Nice mild start to the week currently 19C with no wind and increasing high cloud to the west, its the spring equinox tomorrow going by what my calendar says.

3.6mm here on Saturday - mostly c/o a rogue heavy shower, Sep-total 7.8mm.spwill wrote:Only 2.6mm rain at Auckland airport so far for September, we need the rain this week. Average rainfall for sep is over 100mm

Yes, Auckland also a very dry month so far, although Akld Aero not untypically one of the regions drier sites. I see Ricky and Brian both have 9.6mm, Khyber Pass on 7.2mm, Mangere 5.4mm and a whopping 11.4mm up at Warkworth, while Pukekohe have only had 3.6mm, Kumeu 3.5mm and Whangaparaoa 1.8mm. Looks like an interesting week ahead...
Nearly 18°C here, after 6.8°C at 4am this morn (7.0°C at Akld Aero).
No, equinox definitely Wednesday at 9:18am here!Jasestorm wrote:...its the spring equinox tomorrow going by what my calendar says.
