Davis Shopping List

Unread post by iomkiwi »

I've decided that the time has come to invest in some decent equipment, the current stuff can't seem to handle being out in the weather and readings are getting so bad I am seriously thinking of going off air for awhile.

My shopping list so far is
6152 wireless VP2
6150SER data logger
6450 solar sensor
is there anything else I need, or anything wrong with these choices.

I am aware from a previous thread about frequency issues, I am at least 300m from my nearest neighbour but am wondering if the station would affect MY vodafone handset (or vice versa).
Also if I want to have my anemometer seperate from my ISS, do I need the 6332 transmitter or is that included with the 6152?
Or should I spend a bit more and go for 6162VP2plus?

any input welcome

Hi
maybe add the UV sensor, as its cheaper to get that now rather than a add on later?

Yes the UV sensor is definately in the plans but going to the 6162VP2+ would really stretch the budget at present - especially if customs decide to take a cut as it comes in.

If it's over $400 then you'll be paying GST I'm afraid.

Yes from my experience in importing model yacht parts I know I will be liable if they decide to pull it out and look, sometimes the yacht parts would get thru as the parcels were so small but I guess this will be a bit bigger

They look at the value on the customs declaration. If you can get it shipped to a friend or relative in the US, who then sends it surface mail with a customs declaration saying it's a gift worth US$200 you'll be all good. Often this method also has the benefit of substantial savings on shipping costs.
