South Islanders, Look at whats coming! :P
A nice cold front doing what it does best, LOL
I can only hope it doesn't weaken much before it pays a visit.

Hypno, i would say low cloud and early drizzle about the coast clearing but generally fine inland with high cloud increasing in the afternoon.
There might be some spots of rain in the late afternoon/evening in the high country foothills areas, as the next system slowly approaches.
Nice to see the sunshine after a few days of dampness, 17mm of rain since 4pm Thursday.
More rain to come this week which is good, and further afeild looks like a brief cold snap early October :-$ :-# .

Light to moderate rain here overnight which just started up again before, but has since eased again.
Looks like an interesting day for inland areas of the South Island today, more or so through the Hanmer Springs to Lewis Pass and up to Murchison area.
Isolated thunderstorms look possible through there and in accordance to MS, not quite sure what the trigger is.
Breezy SW wind and 5.5mm in the gauge.

After 7.5mm yesterday today felt nice to see the sunshine again, felt slightly humid with some lower stratus moving across for much of the day.
Clouded over from late afternoon and got cooler with light rain intermixed with a few bigger drops around 5:30pm, and another 1mm to be exact.
Looks like the trough is still on its way down so rain should return again soon, possible thunderstorm over Blenhiem area too.
By the way Saturday is looking like a possible thunderstorm chance for Southland,Otago,West Coast,Canterbury.
GFS is throwing out some very low figures, still early days yet though :-) .

The latest GFS just out shows nasty low for Northland in particular from Sunday Midnight and working its way to cover most of the NI. Its not particuarly big but small and slow moving. Probably just a fluke run but something to keep an eye on.
