That big band of rain doesn't seem to have moved much between 4pm and 5pm, is it stationary? They must be getting quite a bit of rain further south underneath it.

Weetbicks - according to M/S map, there is an occluded front (stalled, basically) and so won't be moving very fast...potential to get some decent falls out of it, for sure!

Yes, it hasnt moved to far north but it has continued to intensify. I think it will track a bit quicker north once the bulk gets into the Canterbury Plains. Hopefully some heavy falls for the city tonight would be nice :) Would be short lived however.

Yes same here. 6pm radar should give a good indication of the set up for CHCH this evening.

6pm radar shows the band has moved wll into mid and part of North Canterbury and should see some decent rain for city from now on.

Some brief rain here in the Upper Valley about an hour ago ..now plenty of sunshine... Just enough to wet the ground .. more to come it appears...

Just had a nice segment of rain with quite large drops mixed in, otherwise its mainly light rain so far.
Clouds are getting alot more darker though.
Canterbury, home of good rugby and severe storms

Unfortunately the rain has eased.....the heaviest falls as per usual all around us but not in the city.

Nice fairweather Cumulus in the Manawatu today.no rain till about 4pm about Mangakino.

Indeed. 3mm here in last 30mins to falling at 6mm/h. 9.5mm to date.

Updated: Last hour have recorded 6.5mm, very steady rain with some heavy falls. Now up to 16mm from 6pm.

Yes John been rather nice weekend all 3 days weather,not too hot but sun is intense.

Another 18mm overnight from midnight to 7am. 36mm since 6pm yesterday now! Very good and still hosing down!

sounds like you most of the rain we only got 19mm since 3pm yesterday and its sunny here today

Only 16mm here since 5pm yesterday, must have been abit more sheltered from the majority of the rain here.
Totaling up to 66mm so far this month.
