On the day in question I looked at the surface obs at 4pm and saw Dunedin Airport had a westerly wind 04kts. That one observation told me my thunderstorm forecast for east Otago was unlikely to verify.
Doesn't look to be too much happening in the days ahead but the models have been indicating a major system later next week.

Cold and miserable with a low to the east of the SI keeping the flow southerly, looking likely.
