Anemometer help

Unread post by jamie »

Well i thought the strange wind event was an isolated event but there was one the other day and another this morning.

What i don't understand is if its a fault with the reed switch thingy on the anemometer, why does it keep only ever doing it at 6.30am? thats the only time it has ever happened. that to me sounds like a software issue if its occurring at one repeated time of the day.

I would rather play with software and see if the fault is in there before i manually get up on the roof and take the mast down. Mind you i do plan to make it some what lightning proof shortly now that uni is nearly finished. So i'm going to have to take that mast down at some stage to do that.

does the gust show on the VP console, under daily hi/lo recall?

if its a similar time every day, it could be electrical interference at that time

Expanding on what MHO said....
That Box thats in your shed that does your Electric fence could be the cause.......As the anemometer sits on that shed.
But you had no issues before..... :-k
If its not the software then it will likely be what Brian said.

interesting that its at a similar time each day?
WD does check the console for the max gust each day, and uses that, and that is CRC checked

try though putting in a limit for the max windspeed in the offsets/limits setup

I dont think its your console, make sure you have your serial cable firmly into the PC.
I would upgrade the consoles firmware too, it has upgraded the wind speed detection algorithm.
My version is 1.82.... you can upgrade the firmware by using Davis's PC firmware updater.
You dont need to hire the the dedicated firmware updater from davis.
You can get the latest firmware updater from here: http://www.davisnet.com/support/weather ... _frmwr.asp
Close WD and restart your comp without restarting WD, double click the firmware updater program and follow the steps in the program.
