SST are also way down now over a large area, which will re enforce it being colder than normal
(which came first though, the chicken or the egg (SST has been lower than normal now for a month or so, temperatures to the west of auckland for the sea temp are not much better than sept)

Reasonable start so far to November here in CHCH with highs in my part of 18, 23, 16, 26, 17, 18 and currently we are on 22.1 degrees at the moment with a very light SW breeze. No rain for the month so far. Im sure November will be an improvement on October. I think we will see some more NW days throughout the month than we did in October. Maybe fairly average temps for the next week or so but some warmer days after that look possible.

It has been a much more spring like month so far which we can afford to have at the moment after last months rainfall, but too many NWers will throw all that moisture out the door.
Generally i think the temperatures will be average for the month 17-28C, which is a fair call instead of below average which we have had in previous years.
Towards the end of the month as we continue to get these wee SW rodents, i think some thunderstorm chances will start popping up for Canterbury.
Especially if a weak El Nino is to follow for this summer, which will mean the busy storm season we havnt seen in about 5 years here.
There's always been that slot between roughly the 20th December- 10th January where we used to get heaps of thunderstorms, sometimes up to 4 days in a row and this is where i think we will see a return to this year. _b
