Another nice day here, Northeasterly stronger today and freshening, however still managing to hover at 22-23 degrees all day due to the very intense sun which has been very evident the past few days! Normally the wind conditions would have the temp struggling around 18 degrees but that hasnt been the case. Looking at my area we are 170mm down on last years annual rainfall at this stage with a week to go.

Akld Aero's highest ever Dec temp was 27.9C recorded in 2000.
Aucklands warmth shows up better in the temperature minimums and in the averages also we have a warm late summer/Autumn up this end of Aotearoa. I tend to call December a spring month for Auckland, March is warmer here.
heck that was one hot milking! got to 25 here. Would have been closer to 40 in the shed with the cows. was a very nice day here. not much wind so i managed to go wakeboarding during the day
Higher dewpoints would make a huge difference up in Auckland than down here in the South Island.
What locals call heat here is nothing compared to the high dewpoint temps I got used to living in Cairns.
Dry heat here,it can be 29 degrees down here at 11.30 in the morning but you woudnt know it sitting inside.
Sun is also a lot weaker than up in the tropics.
Again another warm day today the sun it trying to break through the high cloud which is slowly pushing the temperature up.
Ive got 26.8C at the moment with a very light W-NW breeze, having a bbq today so hopefully the rain holds off until later on.
It looks like Wednesday 30th December could be possible thunderstorms in Canterbury, so for those that are here please do your best to get photo's as i know a few of us on the forum will be away.
Now where are my jandals .
Very warm outside, i have just brought a new computer so am missing some of the links to weather etc.
Cant see jeffs page atm so i wonder what the DP is as it feels very humid.
And yes i am off to kaiteriteri tomorrow so any storms that may accour while we are away someone will have to go chasing and get photos!
Have a great new years people and will be back in the new year

No, the NW has been here half the day in rangiora and when it arived the temp went down a we bit so it whould have not got to 34-35 31.4C here today, that was 2.30pm.

Yes, I found that happened too. The NW was much fresher than I anticipated and the muggyness went down. However, cloud dramatically thickended too which did not allow for an increase obviously. It felt like a tropical island today before the NW freshened.

Cooler change arrived earlier in Palmerston; initially fresh, but otherwise light. Raining on and off during the day, but more persistent from midafternoon. Quite welcome down here, as there hasn't been much of the wet stuff for a while.
gonna be a hot muggy one tonight i reckon. this cloud has trapped the days heat. there isnt enough cloud to trap it all though so it should cool down enough to be able to sleep by midnight.... i hope. makes a change from the crisp nights we have had of recent
there was a fantastic pink sunrise this morning. very deep pink colour. the farm owner took some photos so ill grab some off him and share for all.
27c max in Upper Hutt today ..A lovely afternoon on the Kapiti Cost too once the sc cleared. Very bubbly cu over the high ground of Wanganui and parts of Taranaki also visible from Te Horo Beach mid afternoon. And the sea was warm ...came back with lots of pipi's
