Ohh so gutted ! I was flying in from Wellington this evening and about 30-40km out of Chch I had an amazing view of an AMAZING huge cell just off the east of banks peninsula, this thing was huge !!!! Amazing looking anvil, it looked awesome. I was literally bending down to reach to get my iphone and take a picture when they started descent and had to turn off all electronic devices

Wasn't too bad in Timaru, only lasted around 5minutes. Had some nice long thunder right above us and some bright flashes of lightning while we were fishing.
Most of the good stuff went out to sea and inland.
