Easter Weather

Unread post by spwill »

Mostly fine, some showers or rain likely for the far SW and possible showers for the far north.

Looking like the best Easter weather will be in the west of the North Island. A subtropical low may pass close enough to the eastern North Island Sunday/Monday for some wind/rain there. And looks like a cooler cloudy onshore change will be in place over the South Island by Sunday which should clear the weather on the SI West Coast.

Stll no consistency with ECMWF but GFS has a low pass east of the NI, hopefully far enough east for a dry Easter, rain after Easter would be good.

A low east of us usually gives dry windy weather here....ECMWF has a low in the west after easter now,the models are changing a bit as the east low has disappeared.

Looks like the southerly front/rain holds off until overnight Saturday. Clearing Sunday but with a drop in the temperature.

Canned the West Coast camping trip during the week. That ridge delayed the front moving north over the coast. Will follow the front thru and head to Mt Cook national park for some tramping Sunday/Monday.Southerly should push some clearer skies thru that region from Sunday midday onwards.

Sub zero temps for Southland this morn.

A cloudy mild easter for Auckland, any showers were isolated. Has been mostly sunny this morning , looking forward to the sound of rain on the roof tonight.

We havent had any cold weather yet and with easter early it can make a big difference than a late one as April is often the transition month.

Yes.
The last of the summer season warmth/ moisture meeting the cooling upper level conditions can make for some interesting weather April/ May
