Somewhat anticlimax with the winds for here. Nothing out of the ordinary interms of blustery NW. Outside now it is almost dead calm, very slight breeze.

Gale (possibly severe gale?) NW here tonight in Carterton in the Wairarapa.
Max gust of 106.2 km/h and a average of 77.6km/h.

Yes. The lows that create the fohn NW can also bring up wintry air ( snow) but not this time.melja wrote:17.5C at 8.30pm in august, its common to snow after this kind of weather in winter
Trough later in the week will probably have some quite chilly air behind it but the worst of it will pass out to the east .

Cool! Interesting to know or find out about various ways of getting onto the net while on the road. Am getting a cell this week that should give me access to the net but am unsure yet what it will be like as it's not a sophisticated phone.
Warm indeed today! Bring on spring
Cheers

Not much of a weather event at all, arthurs pass getting only 150mm in 50 odd hours so not much for this area.
Cropp river did get 300mm but many other west coast areas got well under 100mm.
Wind here got to a max of 46kph so must of stayed inland but it was a nice warm weekend for outside jobs

Looks like the front gets out to the east of Auckland today and weakens. So not such as wet day for us now. Tomorrow the rain clouds come back in as a warm front.

In case anyone hasn't noticed there is a webcam of Eden Park on the Met Service site. Actually makes an excellent weather cam, looks toward the SSW. http://www.metservice.com/towns-cities/auckland

Re: Deep Low to start early August then an unsettled pattern!!
Judging by how quiet it is here it must have been a pretty ordinary day everywhere...lol
Only 11mm here from that front. Way less than what I expected
edit: attached pressure graph showing all the dips and rises in the pressure here this afternoon/evening....interesting!
