There has been a delay in making the Bay of Plenty radar fully operational. It looks like it will now be the middle of next week before it starts appearing on the NZ composite radar image.

That'd be right. While I'm out of the country. Expect a decent thunderstorm too if the weather is true to form.

Pity the rest of he country isn't so well covered. Tightwad government, pay the one off investment and give Metservice the tools it needs!

Good spotting Ricky - yes you can just see the faint extra arc of the Mamaku radar lifting the density and visibility of the rain bands moving through. Previously they would apparently stop south of Taupo or coming south, at the Bombay hills and to the East, at the BOP coastline. Well done MS - a great new and proven service now available!!

So rare SE changes during daylight hours, often occurs at night after the slag disappears and the next day ends up entirely different.

I agree to both :)

Usually in spring/summer a SE is usually a thunder wind not really a wet wind, LOL
