Tornado in Wairarapa Sunday 19th

Unread post by Skywatcher »

This was posted by Graham Palmer from Hastings on an Aurora discussion forum:
On Sunday, I was working on the Stone-henge project and could see a small thunder storm about 10 kilometres away. Next thing I knew, there was a strangely blue-ish coloured rope hanging from the tail edge of the storm... A tornado! It seemed to only touch down for a few seconds, then fell apart. Over the next few minutes, several more tried to form, but none of them stayed together long enough to touch down.
This is the project he is talking about: http://www.phoenix.org.nz/stonehenge/stonehenge.htm

Thanks for the Steven. It'll go into the tornado file, and at some point I'll upload it to the NZTS website with a newly designed page. ;)

Interesting regarding the Stone-henge project. It'll be a place that will have to be visited if I'm up that way in future. :)
