Re: General November Weather
Looks like spring will be warming up this week with some hotter temperatures (25C+) likely later in the week for central and eastern areas.

Re: General November Weather
I think I'm in the middle of wind convergence this afternoon, wind direction is all over the place....in a matter of 10 minutes it was ENE then WSW then ENE again now it's NW.... Temperature is fluctuating quickly too

Re: General November Weather
Wind is SSE here but northerly further north so a line of convergence cloud has developed to the NE.

Yeah metservice have a high of 27 forcast for Timaru on saturday. No doubt the forcast will change though as the time gets closer.NZstorm wrote:Looks like spring will be warming up this week with some hotter temperatures (25C+) likely later in the week for central and eastern areas.
Overcast here now with moderate southeasterly siting on 10 degrees. If this cloud clears there could easily be a frost tonight.

I see on TV1 Hanmer Springs had NZ's high of 23C, it was 19C max here and i'm not far away really,a good example of how much the temps can vary around this area

If the sun is out then maybe 30C on Saturday. Certainly looks like a very warm prefrontal airmass headed for the SI. The NI will warm up as well.Yeah metservice have a high of 27 forcast for Timaru on saturday. No doubt the forcast will change though as the time gets closer.

Re: General November Weather
I see Murchison also managed 23C yesterday and some other inland areas like Reefton, Pukaki Aero, Omarama and Wanaka were up around 22C, while eastern coastal areas were only around mid-teens.Richard wrote:I see on TV1 Hanmer Springs had NZ's high of 23C, it was 19C max here and i'm not far away really,a good example of how much the temps can vary around this area
I think only the Far North reached 20C in the North Island.
Currently 20C here after a relatively cool start of 7.8C this morn.

Re: General November Weather
Temperature went from 7C here this morning to 21C this afternoon, coolest start and warmest day this month so far. A 14C daily range is unusual here.

Re: General November Weather
Yes some warm days on the way this week, i do think MS have thier head in the clouds again over thier predicted temperatures from wednesday on.
Should be alot warmer than 19 on thursday, upper level NW flows create lighter winds below as has proven in the past which leads to warmer daytime temperatures.
Plus the air is being dragged across the tasman, so i would say 24-25C for both thursday/friday for some areas even coastal canterbury.
The weekend much warmer again.
I noticed some strong CU inland this afternoon in the foothills area, was there any up your way Richard?

I was down your way working today Jase but (the wife) said the day stayed cloudy here apparently,i saw those clouds too over Lees Valley way.
The cloud will be gone by the morning as i know it by the look of the cloud tonight that i know it as the "clearing cloud" the muti coloured red and gray.

Re: General November Weather
Lovely day for the Cup Meeting at Addington, despite the ENE. My horse bet, got 2nd
Theres going to be lots of ENE windy days with this La Nina, like today
Could be a very un thunderstormy period for us here this summer
