Re: Thunderstorm
Must be sticking to more inland perhaps, wind is still NE here and rain between light and moderate so far.
No southerly as yet, but alot of lightning going on now on the tracker.
Which direction is the lightning mainly Moorfnz?

Re: General November Weather
Very loud thunder and bright lightning here in Waddington, in quick succession. Torrential rain. Power flickering.
(Apologies, I hadn't noticed it being discussed here and started another thread - could you please delete it?)

Just the one clap of thunder here in rangiora, Jase the weather looks to have come from the west oxford way.

Re: Thunderstorm
From what I can see there is just the one thundery cell near the foot hills moving north( north of Rakia River) but no doubt there was some better cells over South Canterbury earlier, enjoy the rainMoorfNZ wrote:I find it incredible that the thunder we just had wasn't heard far and wide!

Re: Thunderstorm
Yes. Thunderstorms moving northwards along the inland parts of Canterbury this afternoon/evening as forecasted by Met service.
I heard one clap around 7:59pm, to the NW of here.
Sfericals this afternoon have been rather irratic.
Interesting to see the NE convergence, not quite getting here before the colder air moved in from the south.
Maybe for the reason of the heavy rain here ?

Re: General November Weather
Continous heavy rain here with a strong gusty southerly, down to 12.4C and still dropping.
Nope make that even heavier on the roof now.
