Yep. Down to around the 800m mark in Omarama late last night/early this morning, but it's fading fast...maybe at 1,400m or so now. Tekapo got less than we did yet had worse weather. :D

Well not too bad in the end seen one blink of lightning to the west and some silent distant thunder.
Then one big boom of thunder to my North at about half twelve but once again it has gone around me  .
Still not enough to make me grrr and grppp Tony just enough to keep my storm tank running till tomorrow.
Regarding tomorrow if anyone is chasing id say be careful with hail that size which is golf ball size 30mm isnt it :? :D .
Pic below is of the early stages about 20 mins before this became a Thunderstorm nice structure CB to my west.
See any lightning Tony if so were there more CC than CG's?
Some rain around lunchtime too 2.1mm just wee bit with some large drops in there too.
Cheers
Jason.

Yes, Tony and Jason, I 've been picking up a few distant sferics from 1:30pm, onwards when I finished work which musta come from that storm up your way, well north Canterbury.
It has been generally pathetic here today with a keen SW and boring looking skies, this despite a very low barometer. No rain , just a few drizzle showers now and then.
I note that the 1pm radar had more beefier showers around inncluding the possible hail that Paul Mallison mentioned.
Tommorow might be a better day, this with more sunshine around and the timing of the SW change and bugger all NW prior to??

Midday freezing level at Invercagill was 1200m.

If that's the case NZstorm I'm glad I don't live 1200m up in the air which I presume is what you mean. Temperature has definitely dropped now but I did record 19.7 today.

Cheers

Hmm yes so the chances of A thunderstorm this evening are remote or farr from it? :? ;) nah I dont think there will be one this evening still some nice pink stuff in south canty on Radar possibly that storm NZstorm.
Any pics NZstorm? Where abouts are you gonna chase to tomorrow NZstorm? got lots of choices right up the coast from Dunedin upwards.
Some more rain before a little on the heavy side fine with nice sunshine now and a Breezy W wind.
Quite interesting tomorrow is 3 year anniversary of our hailstorm we got on January 5th 2002. This storm arrived mid morning with hail the size of pebbles and hailstorm that I will always remember.
Now it's a case I guess of beating that and getting larger hail which could be possible tomorrow :D  .
cheers
Jason.

I'll look at it in the morning. Would like to see sunny skies with a NE develop in the morning. Thats what happened here in sth Cant this afternoon. Skies fined up and that NE freashened. With that NE I thought there was a good chance on convection given the very cold unstable atmosphere at the moment. Big cu starting building about 5pm and by 6pm it was all on. Fine evening here now.

Did get photos, though not great. Will put some up later.

Re South Canterbury storm.
This photo is of an inflow area into the storm. Looks like outflow but was definately inflow, resembling a wall cloud although it wasn't a wall cloud.

Developing storm cloud over the rural environs on Timaru. Lightning every 10 seconds streaking across the sky at time of photo with continuos thunder. Just couldn't get the lightning in a photo. :( The storm was lightning active for about two hours. :D Sperics on the am band every 2-3 seconds.
