Hail was pretty small and mixed in with the rain. Probably only around 5mm. The rain was absolutely torrential never seen it like that here before.

Still hearing rumbles to my northwest. Ones to the SE have now stopped. I am yet to see a flash. Looks like Te Kauwhata on the radar is the hot spot where things are building.
Nice capture Tim _b .

Saw multiple CG's heading north through Hamilton East, some loud cracking thunder to go with it! :D A great welcome back! On descent we hit a few spots of severe turbulance where everyone was like S$%^&$!

Lucky on your capture there Tim!!

Good photo's :D
The best of the local storm activity for Auckland was to the north of the city, a spell of heavy rain here with distant thunder heard to the north. Clearing skies here now.

Grrrr having trouble getting the memory card to read on the computer from the camera. Im no expert but im sure we had a wall cloud move over. Saw some rotating cloud movements at times. Was spectacular. Hopefully i can get the photos off the camera. Nice and sunny here again now.

Yes i forgot to mention as the storm moved over my place the wind was a strong NE and just as the rain stopped a strong southerly blew for about a minute, then quiet.

8mm of rain here from that downpour earlier. I was at uni - mum says she heard thunder from this area, but as usual it wasn't particularly close...

Finally got the photos. Very evident rotation not only within the rising cloud but the entire updraft was. I took heaps of photos in quick sequence and when skipping through them quickly you can see the rotation which i didnt notice just watching it. Here are a few i have quickly reduced.
