Yep just far enough inland to miss most of it in a SW , clearing now with some blue showing.

11 mm of rain here at Tawa, north Wellington, since midnight.
We've had plenty of short showers of small hail over that time, but it doesn't stay around for long.
Just had a look at Colonial Knob through the binocculars (it's been shrouded most of the morning) and the hail doesn't seem to be hanging around there either.
Temperature hovering between 5 and 7 degrees.
Sun is now making brief appearances, so hopefully the blast has done its dash.
Entertainment has been provided by blackbirds hiding from the hail under the camellia tree and muttering amongst themselves. They seem happier than yesterday when they were ice skating on the bird bath first thing.

Sun is now out in Chch - last radar shows showers only clipping outer edge of BP.
Midday obs show very cold weather in east of NI, with single digit temps right up to Gisborne. (only 6C at Mahia)

Interesting day for me today.
Wind caught a door and to my horror I found out the hard way that the 5 hinges were made from plastic!
Wind 1 Door 0.
It was only about 7°C today, but it had a wind driving it and I really felt it.

It seemed like continous steady rain from about 4am until not sure when as it was still raining steady when i left for work at half past 7.
Only lighter rain inland and no sign of any dusting from snow, so the level must have stayed abit higher in the end.
16mm since 3pm yesterday, looking forward to this high with a couple of blue dome sky days on the way.
Then its back to another cold blast next week with snow to very low levels again.
