Re: General July Weather
Rather cold, bleak day in Chch today, but despite the forecast of rain and drizzle, it's been dry (in the central city at least) and the cloud's thinned out somewhat this afternoon.

To compensate for the lack of thunder this winter, LOL
But anyway just re-reading it is getting me excited for this comming spring and summer

Reached 16C here today in the sunnier intervals amongst the brief showers. Nice to be able to open the windows and let fresh air in without being cold

Hamilton weather will be down as of today for probably most of this week, taking parts into Davis to fix the faults.

Re: General July Weather
It's not visible in the radar, nor has it been forecast (was supposed to have finished this morning), but there's been persistent drizzle for most of the afternoon out around Akaroa.

Noticed a persistent cloud cover over BP, Ben, today.tich wrote:It's not visible in the radar, nor has it been forecast (was supposed to have finished this morning), but there's been persistent drizzle for most of the afternoon out around Akaroa.
Nice and sunny here today after a slight frost this morning. Some unstable Cu forms too, as a very weak convergence moved through around noon.
Gradually clouding over this afternoon.

I see M/S have put the snow icon on CHCH for next SUN night/Monday...a week out, still, but I see the Blue Skies have had it on the cards (snow to low levels, mind you) for a few days now...will be neat to watch over the next week!
EDIT: ...and now they have changed it...great

Yes there was some proper rain at uni in the city today, I notice barely any of it made it across to the east thoughVertigo wrote:raining steadily and moderately, yes, but hardly showing on the radar.. how odd!

Have been able to smelt salt in the air 2 mornings in a row here - a bit unusual. But very nice, it smells like the beach!

Re: General July Weather
If it was summer something would happen though we dont really get troughs like that in summer, often "flattens out" as a SW flow instead probably the reason we dont get summer events like we see in winter????
just an edit maybe is the same reason the bay of plenty tend to get them in summer the warm air regenerates them as the setup is in place, someone can enlighten.NZstorm wrote:Those showers will weaken as they hit the cooler land.

Re: General July Weather
Yes some showers coming through the area at the moment. Looking at radar more on the radar than i thought the front would bring but the majority looks to clip BP and move away to the NE

Only a few light spits late morning out on west side of Akaroa Harbour - looks like more affecting the outer edge of the peninsula and offshore.Looking at radar more on the radar than i thought the front would bring but the majority looks to clip BP and move away to the NE
