Something is not right with the NIWA rainfall recorder in the paddock, says 0.0 for the last 10 mins yet its raining quite steady. Better go a check there's no bugs in.

Quite an impressive Akl radar loop currently, showing the low centre crossing Northland.

You will most probably end up with close to 50mm by the time this system winds up mate!

6mm moderate rain here. May get another burst as the band moves back across us due to the eastward movement of the system.

Getting our first heavy rain of the day in Howick now, but certainly not as heavy as it looks on the rain radar

Re: Moist trough 7th to 13th March
I see MS have issued a Severe T-Storm Watch for Akld, although I think this is more for heavy rain than T-Storms...
MetService - Severe Thunderstorm Watch
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH
Issued by MetService at 12:33 pm Sunday 12 March 2017
Valid until 03:00 pm Sunday 12 March 2017
This watch affects people in the following weather forecast districts:
Auckland
A slow moving rainband over Auckland has brought areas of heavy rain this morning. This rain is likely to bring further heavy rain with downpours of 25 to 50mm/hr (and possibly more) in localised areas until about 2pm. Rainfall of this intensity can cause flash flooding, especially about low-lying areas such as streams, rivers or narrow valleys, and may also lead to slips. Driving conditions will also be hazardous with surface flooding and poor visibility in heavy rain.

14mm here from that rain band - seems the heavy part fizzled out by the time it got here. That brings us to 165mm in the past week. Thankfully it looks like the rest of the month may be quite settled, with a large anticyclone taking up residence over NZ.

I see the Airport missed the heavy stuff this morning, looks like central/west Auckland that got hit.
