Re: General August Weather
I see the low from north has developed further west than the models predicted
its now west of Northland
I could see that trend in the rain radar last night
Barometer has dropped a lot here overnight
good rain bands moving down into the Auckland area now

Re: General August Weather
Wind has picked up here in the last 10 minutes with the wind swinging between ENE & NE. Gusting over 50 knots in the gulf on Tiritiri. Nice convergence zone to my NE.

Re: General August Weather
A nice 20mm here with that warm front. It should give a good drop into the Hunua ranges and water catchment.

Re: General August Weather
Very much like that here in Canterbury / Christchurch too, Ive never seen the port hills so dry in August. Really worrying going into spring with it like this. We have had 52.4mm in the last 50 days (1st July to 19th August).

Re: General August Weather
Hope so, getting dry down here as well.
Today's warm temperature doesn't help (19C max for today)

Re: General August Weather
GFS has a front arriving around the middle of the day and then more activity in the evening with colder upper air. Isolated severe squalls/hail with storm activity.

Re: General August Weather
18.8c with a 14.4c DP locally. A good batch of colder air at 500 hPa arrives on the west coast of the NI after sunset. Access G3 modelling on the 18Z run looks quite unstable with total totals 55+ with some moisture at 700 hPa.
