That Spotter map is great!! You can see the icons for the mobile units in cars, the storm damage are the icons looking like a twister i think as they are part of the damage list below. Other white pic icons are possibly local weather station guys or Wx independents? Some have station logos, others have personal names...
I have some friends just north of you Foggy - close to Des Moines Iowa. So you're heading back west, will keep watch - but I'll be away for two days for a funeral so maybe catch up in the weekend - by that time, this thread will be up to page 10!!

yeah...we are going to go through Amarillo and then turn north on the 385 toward Boise City where we may catch an elevated junky storm. Good lightning though. We are heading for the northern states via the eastern side of the Rockies.Show me the way to Amarillo!
Very sobering. Brings home the power of tornadoes.what was it like going through the town?

'Junk storm' is slang in USA storm chasing for a non severe thunderstorm.
We had a look through the National Weather Service today and also saw the storm prediction centre. Photo here of the NWS at work. Apparently some of the local TV stations are running on the monitors there so they can keep an eye on the media to make sure they are broadcasting the severe weather warnings correctly.

Since you're around Dalhart, you might as well read up on its history (and why everything has XIT in it somewhere (KXIT etc etc)

Oh yeah, Boise City was Accidently bombed during WWII - it was mistaken for a bombing range.
If you're carrying on north thru springfield and lamar you will go past quite a few wind turbines.
If you need a meal around lamar carry on thru town and on the 4 lane that is the 287/50 combined you pull into the "truck plaza"
Eat at that restaurant.
