And Reed trimmer sucessfully launched a rocket into the EF4 that we were on in Kansas (same one that tipped over Roger Hill/Silver Lining Tours van).
This is unfortunate... There have been many positive comments re Reeds work and the information gained that he has shared thus far (Even though I do like to poke the Borax at Reed in real life, often referring to him as Weed Trimmer We did shake hands at ChaserCon and I was pleased he remembered my name, a different Reed, like he was on Beta blockers when he weasn't wound up in front of severe weather).
Josh became famous in the TV Reality Series for being in charge of the DOW's (Doppler radar On Wheels) and subsequently failing to get the TIV (Tornado Interceptor Vehicle) in to a tornado. The whole TV series has tragedy associated with it, in the personal life of many people featured, sadly. Josh is taking a beating for his comments and I hope it isn't a case of media misrepresenting his actual comments.
The video in the link depicts an incident I'll let you be the judge of. I certainly would not want to face that DOW coming around the corner with it coming at me in my lane. However, there is more to the scenario. I expect it's possible the driver was in communication with a support vehicle further ahead that confirmed the way was clear.

Reed has his critics, but generally I think this rocket launch and recovery has been received well. The dude does have PHD after all.
I actually made a point of taking a photo of his graduation photo's on the wall of the National Weather Center in 2015 as many didn't think he was for real. It took him a while to get there as his semesters kept getting interrupted by severe weather scenarios
Regular looking storm development over the Texas Panhandle today. But CAPE 4000+ make these storms not so regular and a severe MCS will form and spread into Oklahoma this evening.
Yesterdays MCS gave Whichita Airport a gust of 58knots.

I see SPC have a PDS Severe thunderstorm watch up for Oklahoma. Upgrade to moderate risk.
THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION...
* Primary threats include...
Widespread damaging winds and scattered significant gusts to 80
mph likely
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5
inches in diameter possible
A couple tornadoes possible
Video has surfaced of the moment Roger Hills Silver Lining tours van was rolled by a rain wrapped satellite tornado quite some distance from the known large tornado in Kansas...
As a result of the video appearing, I've observed a couple of people referring to a post from another chaser whom was near the vans immediately before the incident. I've obscured the name of the poster on purpose, it's screen grabbed as posted.

Interesting how peoples perspectives can be so different...
My friend over there said they had 5 today. Unfortunately he wasn't able to chase, he'd been working and the target area was 2.5 hours away. A lot of moisture in the environment seems to have limited the number who were out chasing.
