Getting some light rain here now hardly enough to wet the ground though. If that rain band on the rain rader continutes to drift south we could get some more heavier stuff later on. Mild and humid here currently 19 degrees with 85% humidity.

Re: Ex-TC(s) possibly heading for NZ
Brian i think it looks like cloud thats being exited by Zelia an not the eye or middle of the storm or though it looks like the tip of Northland is recieving a direct hit by Zelia now amazing still no warnings in place by the metservice.
Re: Ex-TC(s) possibly heading for NZ

Re: Ex-TC(s) possibly heading for NZ
If Zelia is making a direct hit on the tip of NZ at the moment does that mean it will be further down the country by evening?
Re: Ex-TC(s) possibly heading for NZ
Would imagine so unless it is drunk and decides to do a turn to another place.windwatcher wrote:If Zelia is making a direct hit on the tip of NZ at the moment does that mean it will be further down the country by evening?

Re: Ex-TC(s) possibly heading for NZ
To say its currently at Cape Reinga, weather here isnt as bad as I thought it was going to be. Quite gusty winds but little to no rain. Not sure if the winds are set to worsen but arent up to damaging speeds yet.

Dew point nearly 24C at Whangerei, the sun must be out there for them to be up to 27C. Maybe a bit brighter here this afternoon? Temperature hasn't really budged from what it was at dawn

Re: Ex-TC(s) possibly heading for NZ
the rain band approaching cape reinga is NOT the cyclone, its just the remains of the cloud top associated with it earlier.. it has since detached itself from zelia, which is spinning WNW of auckland currently.

Re: Ex-TC(s) possibly heading for NZ
So the cyclone is still north of NZ or is it WNW as you said? Sorry, bit confused.Vertigo wrote:the rain band approaching cape reinga is NOT the cyclone, its just the remains of the cloud top associated with it earlier.. it has since detached itself from zelia, which is spinning WNW of auckland currently.

Re: Ex-TC(s) possibly heading for NZ
finally can see some decent rain bands about to move onto the far north now..
associated with the low center
which is west of northland now
as far as winds go, so far, a fizzer
central pressure must have come up alot from the 989 at norfolk island...
