The coolest night for ages here with 13.1C this morning. With an average min this month of 18C it certainly felt cooler :)

27 degrees at 9am....its a hot end to summer. February overall must be tracking as a hot one here.

Will easily end up being the 2nd hottest February (at least for the airport) since records began in 1954...

Breeze has gone round to south-easterly here and temperature falling from a high of nearly 30deg., down to 26deg. already.

Its been a great end to Summer, Today and the next two days should be over 30C

Meant to be doing Muller Hut this weekend, Severe gales and temps below zero in the forecast, may have to postpone...

Its gone southerly here, with a resultant 7 degree drop. 28 degrees now brrrrrr......

Can't believe how the weather has been since I moved back to Christchurch after 6 and a half years overseas. January was shocking and February has been incredibly warm for here with lots of occurrences of consecutive days over 25 degrees(4-5 in a row) and it hasn't dropped below 20 once yet.

Yes, will be a near record warm Feb for NZ.


A warm front from Winston reaches the North Island tomorrow with dps rising to 21C!
Looking like heavy rain/Isolated thunder possible for Waitomo/Waikato with the warm front Saturday pm.

Temperatures in Christchurch hitting the mid 30s again thus afternoon, for second day running with cloudy conditions. Imagine what it could do if the sun comes out!

A strong burst of lightning over Fiordland today driven by the jetstream by the looks.

28.4C in Grey Lynn. Not much wind here today.

Won't be anywhere near its Feb. record of 1754mm though ... be interesting to know what has fallen at Cropp.

Dead calm in Christchurch but a constant cooler breeze up at the top of the Port Hills.

Looks almost certain that this month will go down as the second hottest ever recorded in Christchuch (at least for the airport station)
