Not much happening here. Light rain, couple of thunderclaps and that was about it.

Maybe it'll fire up later on?

Ooo lightning over hamilton!! Am doing my best to capture some!

26.2mm so far today since 9am!

Edit: It put on a good show tonight.. just way too few between.. the lightning always struck when I was just checking the nexstorm. Murphy's law I guess!

On the subject of bolteks.. have any of you Cantabs checked out the new boltek from Burwood?

yes, amazing how quickly the rain moved into the waikato...just to the south of auckland
but we got a lick of very heavy rain here just after midnight...16mm, max 8m/minute (that makes it the heaviest rain I have recorded)

looks showers in the hauraki gulf to move through now
and a new frontal line is bearing down from the north too....

alot of rain out to sea off northland and here overnight....

Looks like Raglan, Pirongia and Kawhia got drowned. Police issued and advisory at 5am for people to stay away. 4WD only access due to slips and flooding.

i see there are strikes from this too at the moment.

the 7am radar shows a very distinct band, but it is slow moving, and with the weakening of the trough thats feeding all this it reduces any risk of T/S

i see after the weekend we should get back to sw patterns again :?

reports of dargaville getting over 75mm last night

who says its going to weaken?
alot of moisture still to feed in from the east
a shallow low can still fire up big CB lines

but once that southerly front moves up it will shunt things off to the east i guess....and it roll over the top of us

Crikey!!

Might be a hot one tomorrow with a dry east southeast change on the back of the clearing low. :)

Roll on some further convection today.. central-lower areas should get a beating.
