Re: Cold end to week and Next Week.
Change should arrive this evening in Chch and persist through tomorrow, but MetService is only forecasting a few showers for the city through the day. Certainly a cold outbreak coming, but probably not as strong as the one this time last year, when there was quite heavy snow on Banks Peninsula and light flurries in the NI as far north as Tokoroa and outskirts of Rotorua.

Change is on its way be interesting to see how long it lasts.
Great day today though under sunny skies and light winds
.
Rather large fire in Kaiapoi today, the old chinese fish n chips shop burned down completly gutted as well as the restaurant next door and minor damage to a hairsalon.
5 firetrucks were at the scene and all major roads surrounding the fire were closed for several hours.
The fish and chip shop has been open for atleast 40 years.
I will try get some pics of it tomorrow
.
Cheers
Jason.

For those of you in CHCH who see this post in time, there is a really good "Moonbow" out at the moment...just thought I would let ya know!
Not something you see very often!
(something about ice crystals way up there refracting the light coming from the Moon....)

Re: Cold end to week and Next Week.
Turned out to be a fizzer in the end - nothing in Chch; probably only some showers on outer BP. Even the predicted thunderstorms for the upper North Island have been downgraded to a 'low risk' by MetService. Obviously the coldest air has been pushed east - Chathams on only 3C this morning, with showers. (could be sleet)

Yeh abit of a hit and miss really with no precipitation at all, however the sun is nice.
Perhaps From next Tuesday has abit more potential than this one with a more cold S-SW.
Cheers

Re: Cold end to week and Next Week.
Yes, I thought judging by last night's rain-radar that the system would move out further east, resulting in a fine day today with hardly any precipitation, whatsoever. Slight frost here this morning.
Fine for the rest of the week now.
