What are they saying for Christchurch? whats the snow level for banks peninsula or the port hills?

Thanks Frosty. there ya go golpolks

Definately snow on the hills and brief falls to sea level so thats us. SO looking like for CHCH = sleety falls with snow showers for a time tomorrow. Banks peninsular is as high as 600m-700m i think and port hills 300m-400? I might be wrong. I know halswell is 30m above sea level.

The colder air is creeping in, I see its been snowing in Gore within the last hour from the weather station, wheres tidd66 for an update when you need him! :-)

Surely we would have to get something; 15cm to 300m must equal some significant settling at sea level.

You can finally see the surge racing up from below on the BOM sat. Looks like I might wake to a bit of white stuff :-$

Yeah it does, but they have so many different weather sections it does my wee brain in, this site is better.

Had rain here in Rolleston.Temprature was heading down but a slight heating effect is showing at the moment up from 3.8 to 4.0c in the last few minutes and now heading down again.Baro on 1001mb and wind Southerly 5.8kph average.

BP is 920 is the highest point witch is mt herbert as they call it. and i think top suger loaf " port hills" is about 496

Just had our first breif but decent shower of tonight so far with some heavy rain and abit of sleet.
Still the odd isolated heavy shower out there on the latest radars.
It will be interesting to see whether tomorrow afternoon the showers string together and combine enough to give prolongued showers enough for some reasonable accumulations if it falls as snow :-) .

So we should see snow about half way down the port hills!

no gopolks u will see snow lower then half way down the port hills.

Looks like some rain coming soon according to rain radar, at 3.4 still dropping

Metservice updated chch forecast to:

Showers, with sleet and snow by midday. Southerlies.

And dueedin:

Sleety showers, snow to low levels. Southerlies.

currently sitting on 2.1C here lets just round that down to 2 :lol: cloudy skies but no rain as of yet, yeah i noticed MS has changed there forecast leys hope it does exactly that now! amen to the gods

Heavy rain lashing the windows woke the household about an hour ago, 3.9C too warm for snow yet, there maybe snow in the higher suburbs.

Metservice now saying snow to 200m for Canterbury in their brief forecast :( why do they have to go spoil the party.
