And further north again over the bombays another Cb has shot up. Rapid acceleration upwards, no need for timelapse with these babys! Cap sure went in a big way.
That cell down South looks like a screamer on radar, hope there is someone in the area onto it.

Re: Convective period, NI, 25-28th January
Went to Pirongia, saw some amazing forked lightning hit the side of the mountain and also a small funnel cloud formed for about 10 seconds. Unfortunately, my car over heated so I gave up and came home.

Re: Convective period, NI, 25-28th January
Looks like the central North Island taking a pounding. The lastest 6pm radar shows even further and larger development. Taupo 8mm in the last hour. No real reports from up there but maybe the huge power outage affecting Auckland and many other areas which started in a Matangi local residents underground, the owner apparantly not letting transpower on their property so they can fix the job, not you Tim is it? Not that you can probably get online, ofcourse you would be letting them on your property so that you can get in touch with the tracking of these severe thunderstorms Any reports let us down in the 'present' boring old south know what is happening.
