Coolest day since early November at AK airport. I felt the coolness today. But I reckon we'll get a mild winter this year.

Yep the low was 5.9°C here before the cloud came in, I assume after 4am (that is when it started getting warmer here). Pretty dull this morning!Manukau heads observer wrote:anticylonic gloom has come in overnight here....around 3am going by when the temperature stopped dropping....(to 9 C

Re: General May Weather
I am now in Nelson, although in temporary short term accommodation atm, I'm hopefully here for the long term. I wouldn't have a clue what the temp was here as all I have to go by is the metservice site and a kestrel.
Can't wait until my container arrives with my weather station, although will have to wait until we buy a place to put it up, can't imagine many landlords that will be happy for me to install a weather station at their rental!
Will try and keep you all updated on how Nelson fairs over the coming months, as far as I can tell I am the only one from the Nelson region on here?

Low of 7.1 here but, from the sky temps, cloud was gradually increasing from midnight when the temp was around 8 degrees. It became overcast from about 5 30am

I see Nelson averages 88 ground frosts a year so a chilly winter ahead compared with Perth

Well I definitely didn't move here for the storms, I can tell you that now.spwill wrote:Tim S wrote,GreatWill try and keep you all updated on how Nelson fairs over the coming monthsI think Nelson might be NZ least stormy city but it will be great to have the fine weather reports from that part of NZ

Manukau heads observer: Are you talking about this one? http://www.warren.co.nz/weather/default.asp
I had that one on my bookmarks for a few years but its recently gone offline, was a great station too with a webcam so it was a bummer to see it go. I know on the mesomap live map there was a station in Golden Bay on the other side of Takaka Hill, I haven't seen that on there for a while though. http://www.csweather.net/MMLive.html I had my station on the WA version of this, though not any longer of course.

Re: General May Weather
A rather cooler day up until now, with that overnight air being trapped under this mornings high cloud.
Sun is now out with the temperature up to 17C, no NWer though infact theres no wind at all.
Interesting how the MS have pulled the showers from the forecast, ok the cold front has gone over and decayed but the trough to the south is coming up and is firing a few thundery CB's.
I reackon a crop of wintry showers tonight mainly coastal, heavy rain small hail and maybe a clap of thunder somewhere.

No sign of any shower activity overnight here. Just more clear dry skies and another autumnal stunner in prospect today
